John J. Lothian joined The Price Futures Group, Inc. ("The Price Group") in late 1997 as President of a newly created Electronic Trading Division, at the dawn of the age of Internet futures trading.
Today he is responsible for an operation that offers three separate trading platforms for customers that included retail traders, Commodity Trading Advisors, Introducing Brokers and an FCM. He is also registered with Price Group affiliate, Price Asset Management, Inc., and helps CTAs market their money management programs.
John is the editor of the John Lothian Newsletter, a daily email intelligence briefing about what is going on within the worldwide futures and securities communities. The newsletter was created to help the traders manage the historic level of change occurring within the futures and securities industries through the dissemination of information and commentary. The good will marketing newsletter is read daily by traders, brokers, brokerage executives, exchange staff, exchange members, regulators, media, vendors, independent software vendors, industry leaders, and other parties with a professional or personal interest in the futures and securities industries.
Previously John was a part owner of a small Introducing Brokerage firm, an account representative with a CBOT member firm owned by the late John H. (Bud) Frazier and a broker with a Chicago based FCM. He started his career as a news reporter with Knight Ridder/Commodity News Service. Additionally, he worked for discount commodity firm First American Discount Corp. (“FADC”) during their early years. FADC is now part of Man Financial Inc, the clearing firm used by The Price Group.
John was a member of the MidAmerica Commodity Exchange in 1989-90 and prior to that a member of a proprietary trading group at LIT America.
He is a 1983 graduate of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in General Management/Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications/Journalism.
